ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Pete Deemer is a founder of the Scrum Training Institute, which is headed by Dr. Jeff Sutherland, the co-creator of Scrum. Pete works with teams and companies in Australia and worldwide, helping them succeed with Scrum. He has provided Scrum training and coaching to some of the largest companies in the world, including Nokia, Ericsson, GE, and EMC. Pete is the lead author of The Scrum Primer (www.scrumprimer.com), one of the most widely read guides to Scrum.

Pete is an honors graduate of Harvard University, and has spent the last 19 years leading teams building software-based products and services at global companies. He spent a number of years as adjunct faculty at University of California Berkeley, where he received the prestigious Club 6 teaching award. Most recently he served as Vice President of Product Development for Yahoo!, where he led Yahoo’s global adoption of Scrum, which grew to over 2000 developers worldwide during his tenure.

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course provides an in-depth training in Scrum theory and practice, taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer who works with some of the largest companies in the world using Scrum. This two-day course is divided between lecture, exercises, simulations, open discussion and question and answer.

The course content includes best practices and advice for using Scrum with multi-location / distributed projects; project estimation and delivery-date planning and tracking in Scrum; fixed-bid / fixed-date projects in Scrum; Scrum tools; scaling Scrum for large projects; and strategies for successful organizational adoption of Scrum.

ABOUT THE CERTIFICATION

All attendees who complete the course and pass the Scrum Alliance online exam will become Certified ScrumMasters (CSMs), and will be listed in the Scrum Alliance’s CSM registry, and receive access to the Scrum Alliance website’s CSM-restricted areas. In addition, all course attendees will receive both hard-copy and soft-copy versions of the course presentation and other teaching materials, as well as a selection of Scrum templates and other resources. Attendees who are Project Management Institute PMP’s are eligible for 16 Professional Development Units.
